Smash the Box

Presented by: Chad Willett, Speaker/Author/Creative Expert

SmashTheBox_featureSMASH THE BOX on the concept of “this is the way things have always been done” by creating a culture of innovation.  A culture of innovation says “Yes And”, shifts the focus from “me” to “us”, suspends judgment, and allows all participants to be a part of the creative process.  Smash the Box provides a blue print to not only “think outside the box” but “Smash it” by innovating, creating and transforming your daily creative practices.

Outcomes

  • Culture of Innovation- Transform your meetings, discussions, and employee interaction by using the 4 techniques in “Smash the Box”
  • Creative Plan- Many companies have a business plan, few have a creative plan
  • Mental Prison- Dismantle the four walls of the mental prison: fear, perfection, judgment, and negativity
  • Smash the Box- Become an idea generator which is the “spark” to the creative process

Engagement & the Global Workplace

Presented by: Bill Heisler, Steelcase Applied Research + Consulting

Designers – 0.1 CEU; Architects – 1 LU

Based on a Steelcase Global Report, Engagement & the Global Workplace takes a look at the relationship between employee engagement and the work environment.  It addresses one of the most serious issues facing leading organizations today:  Only 13 percent of workers are highly engaged.

The original study was conducted with 12,480 office workers in 17 countries and uncovered a correlation between employees’ attitudes about their workplace and their level of engagement.  Employees who are highly satisfied with the work environment are also the most highly engaged.  Conversely, those who are highly dissatisfied with their work environment are the most highly disengaged.

This presentation also provides a snapshot of the state of the office around the world.  The study’s findings, combined with decades of Steelcase workplace research, offer designers and organizations specific actions they can take to create a workplace that helps boost employee engagement.
