Fresh off NeoCon and Design Days, our team returned from Chicago inspired, energized, and excited to share what we spotted. Each year, these shows offer a glimpse into the future of workplace design through innovative products, immersive showroom experiences, and new ideas from leading manufacturers around the globe. And this year was no exception. From furniture and flooring to textiles, acoustics, and architectural solutions, every showroom featured a remarkable blend of creativity, craftsmanship, and forward-thinking design.
Here are the trends that stood out most, and the ones we expect to have a strong influence in the year ahead.
Everything old is new again, and that sentiment was on full display at this year’s NeoCon and Design Days. We saw a large presence of retro-inspired design, but with a modern twist that keeps things feeling fresh, not dated. Think rich wood tones, curvy silhouettes, bold geometrics, and vintage-inspired lighting that instantly adds a stylish flair. Color palettes leaned into nostalgic territory from oranges, yellows, and earthy tones that are equal parts comforting and cool. The result? Spaces that feel inviting, expressive, and full of personality.
If subtle was the mood in recent years, 2026 is anything but. Color drenching is everywhere, with designers wrapping entire spaces, from walls, flooring, furniture, and everything in between, in a single hue. Immersive, confident, and dramatic, these monochromatic moments prove that color isn’t just a supporting role anymore, it’s the main character. After years of safe neutrals, this shift feels bold, refreshing, and long overdue.
Nature-inspired design bloomed in fresh new ways this year. While biophilia remains a major influence, this trend now extends far beyond simply adding greenery to a space. Floral patterns and botanical references appeared throughout furniture, textiles, and architectural elements, bringing a softer, more playful, and uplifting energy into workplace environments.
This year’s design story was as much about touch as it was about appearance. Across furniture, finishes, and surfaces, manufacturers placed a strong emphasis on texture. Upholstery is becoming increasingly dimensional and tactile, adding warmth, comfort, and visual depth to seating and lounge environments. One standout material driving this trend is FENIX, an ultra-matte surface known for its soft-touch feel, anti-fingerprint properties, and velvety finish, which appeared on work surfaces, side tables, lockers, and more.
Pods may not be new, but they definitely had their moment at this year’s NeoCon & Design Days. What was once a niche solution has become an office essential, with more manufacturers expanding their pod offerings and reimagining the possibilities. From sleek phone booths to fully equipped meeting spaces, these adaptable solutions provide the privacy, focus, and flexibility needed for today’s workplace.
Perhaps the biggest trend wasn’t a product or solution at all, it was a shift in mindset. Across showrooms, there was a clear focus on creating spaces that support connection, collaboration, and a stronger sense of community. Long communal tables, relaxed lounge settings, and residential-inspired seating encourage people to gather, converse, and hang out.
Technology is present, but not always dominant. Instead, spaces are being designed to flex between plugged-in productivity and unplugged connection, depending on what people need in the moment.
From bold color statements and rich textures to nostalgic influences and community-centered spaces, this year’s trends point to a workplace that is becoming more human, expressive, and intentional.
