NBS AV Designer

Audiovisual Design Engineer – Troy, MI

NBS is currently looking for an Audiovisual Design Engineer. We are interested in finding the right, long-term team member who is self-directed, organized, process oriented, and has strong communication skills.

What Will You Be Doing?

This position works collaboratively with sales team members to support audiovisual sales efforts through design services and client-facing interactions. This position also has the overall responsibility of working closely with other team members, clients, end users, vendors, and third-party audiovisual architecture and engineering firms to design and evaluate audiovisual systems for use in meeting and presentation rooms, video conferencing rooms and auditoriums. Some of the primary job duties of this position include:

  • Serving as interface with clients; responsible for communications with client and subcontractors.
  • Reviewing pre-construction design and documentation and assisting with technical design and pricing for proposals, as needed.
  • Designing major components or major portions of a functional AV system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
  • Developing basic data and making preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal.
  • Investigating pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability; replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
  • Creating flowcharts of complex assemblies and detailing parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures.
  • Audio DSP programming, setup, testing and calibration of room audio within a variety of size, scale, and scope projects.
  • Assisting in the audit and labor quoting process by checking completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy; recommending revisions and/or improvements to responsible engineers/designers when design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies are identified.
  • Providing structural and Mechanical Electrical Planning (MEP) coordination; coordinating conduit and electrical requirements.
  • Determining equipment requirements and cost analyses for installations, ranging from simple to broad complexity.
  • Interfacing with project managers and site technicians to ensure quality end-product results consistent with design intent.
  • Developing, organizing, and maintaining standard operational procedures (including regular maintenance requirements) and workflow processes and procedures for AV systems and clients.
  • Contributing to, reviewing and approving system descriptions; responsible for job documentation as needed.
  • Identifying all cabling and miscellaneous materials needed for projects. Designing wall plates and overlays.
  • Researching and recommending capital purchases to maintain or increase capacity and productivity of operations (hardware/software and D-Tools).
  • Meeting with vendors / prospective vendors to help evaluate products as needed.

 

Do You Have The Experience, Knowledge, and Skills We’re Looking For?

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience designing audiovisual systems
  • Extensive experience and proficiency with D-Tool software and Mechanical Electrical Planning
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to read and interpret audiovisual system drawings, schematics, construction plans, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Assertive, resourceful, and self-motivated; willing to ask questions, take initiative and communicate clearly.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while working to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a high attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, as a member of a team, and independently with little supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as strong presentation skills and ability to explain design intent.

NBS Audiovisual Installation Technician

Lead Audiovisual Installation Technician – Troy, MI

NBS is currently looking for a Lead Audiovisual Installation Technician.  We are interested in finding the right, long-term team member who is self-directed, organized, process oriented, and has strong communication skills.


What Will You Be Doing?

This position has the overall responsibility of installing, testing, and completing small to large-scale audiovisual systems while demonstrating the utmost professionalism and client satisfaction.  Some of the primary job duties of this position include:

  • Completing rack build-up, pulling cable, and preparing equipment for installation.
  • Preparing systems for in-house job staging; making all necessary connections, loading configuration files, etc.
  • Conducting installation of completed racks, projectors, monitors and related sub mounts.
  • Leading testing of system components to assure system completeness and convention.
  • Ensuring each system’s physical completeness is in accordance with installation drawings.
  • Performing on-site rack fabrication when required.
  • Maintaining an on-going dialog with AV Foreman and Project Manager; ensuring work quality, performance, and materials meet required schedules and expectations.
  • Maintaining assigned equipment inventory and assigned tools.
  • Travelling to client sites and other NBS offices as required.

Hiring Audiovisual Service Technician

Audiovisual Service Technician – Troy, MI

NBS is currently looking for an Audiovisual Service Technician.  We are interested in finding the right, long-term team member who is self-directed, organized, process oriented, and has strong communication skills.

What Will You Be Doing?

This position has the overall responsibility of providing our clients with on-site service support through preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs.  Some of the primary job duties of this position include:

  • Reading and interpreting electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
  • Performing preventative maintenance to maintain a stable client-based system.
  • Cleaning various AV equipment including but not limited to camera lenses, monitors and equipment fans.
  • Completing accurate job documentation as needed.
  • Installing control programs (Extron/Crestron/Firmware) – upload and download capability.
  • Providing service support of networked devices (Routers, IP Protocols, etc.).
  • Performing service tasks that include but are not limited to pulling cable, installing connectors, mounting projectors, and hanging ceiling mounts.
  • Providing training and support for next level service technicians.
  • Providing end-user training as needed.
  • Setting up and troubleshooting various video codecs/video teleconferencing systems.
  • Cleaning the shop and all surrounding work areas.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe job site, including final clean-up.
  • Maintaining and ensuring the proper tools are available to perform all job duties.
  • Conducting basic problem solving and troubleshooting for issues that may arise during an installation or service call.
  • Providing daily field reporting to Lead Technician or AV Foreman.
  • Travelling to client sites and other NBS offices required.

 

Do You Have The Experience, Knowledge and Skills We’re Looking For?

  • Minimum of 1–3 years of audiovisual integration experience is preferred.
  • Formal education in electronics or a related field is preferred.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
  • Experience safely using hand and power tools; including the ability to solder and crimp connectors.
  • Basic computer knowledge; preferably utilizing Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of basic signal flow for audio, video, and control.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be self-motivated with strong attention to detail and exhibit positive can-do attitude.
  • Must possess excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.

NBS Carpet Cleaning Technician

Carpet Cleaning Technician – Troy, MI

NBS is currently looking for a full-time Carpet Cleaning Technician in our Troy office.

Reports to: Director, Commercial Cleaning Solutions

The safety of our team members is our #1 priority.  Therefore, we have implemented numerous safety protocols related to the COVID-19 pandemic; as recommended by national and local government, and health authorities.  These protocols include:

  • Field staff are equipped with face masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and wipes.
  • NBS vehicles are equipped with the necessary disinfecting supplies.
  • Our vehicles are decontaminated/fogged on a regular basis.
  • Team members are strongly encouraged to follow the CDC guidelines for preventing the spread of the virus.

Job Duties:

  • Primarily include carpet, fabric, upholstery, and floor cleaning along with various other services provided by NBS.
  • Work hours are typically Monday-Friday between 4:00 pm to 1:00 am.
  • Must be available to work at least two Saturdays a month.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Experience driving lightweight trucks preferred.
  • No commercial cleaning experience necessary.

NBS is looking for Furniture Installers in Troy, Michigan

Office Furniture Installer – Troy, MI

NBS is currently looking for a Furniture Installer. We are interested in finding the right, long-term team member who is looking for something more than just a job and wants to be part of a team that includes the best and brightest people in our industry. What Will You Be Doing?

  • Loading furniture orders onto truck and delivering product to customers; completing furniture assembly/ installation as per installation specifications to meet customer expectation; inspecting furniture for proper operability according to manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Installing all types of freestanding furniture and panel and modular systems; including placement, leveling, wipe-down, and touching-up of metal and wood furniture at customer location.
  • Completing all required furniture service/repair paperwork.
  • Removing all trash from jobsites and leaving them clean and wiped down.
  • Following all safety procedures in the performance of job duties.
  • Ensuring the overall cleanliness of the trucks and tools used by the department and being responsible for completion of annual DOT physical.
  • Interacting daily with customers, other team members, and warehouse management.

NBS is currently looking for a full-time furniture installer at our Lansing location.  We are interested in finding the right, long-term team member with mechanical ability and a great attitude.  Prior experience working with Steelcase furniture is preferred.

Requirements of the job include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to lift and carry at least 100 lbs.;
  • Willingness to work overtime when needed;
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record;
  • Must be able to pass a drug test, background check and DOT exam.

We offer a full benefit package, including medical, dental, vision, a 401(k) plan and paid time off.  Uniforms, a yearly boot allowance and tool replacement are also part of the package.

Starting hourly rate of $17 – $19, depending on experience.
