The StoryPoint Senior Living Community in Clinton Township, Michigan, welcomes seniors home to a space designed around their needs. NBS provided all furnishings and finishes for the new construction project, creating a welcoming, comfortable and home-like atmosphere that works for both residents and staff.
NBS is a long-term partner for StoryPoint Group, a senior housing operator under CommonSail Investment Group. Over the last decade, we have provided furnishings and interiors for many locations, working hand-in-hand with O’Brien Interiors Group. For the new StoryPoint community in Clinton Township, NBS furnished all common and staff areas, along with residential rooms in Memory Care.
Soft blues, greys, warm neutrals and wood tones are used throughout the community. Each floor has a sitting area with soft lounge furniture for residents to enjoy. Common areas also include a game room, activity and conference rooms, and a two-story entrance featuring a grand piano and space for larger gatherings. A movie theater with black-out shades and lounge seating with tablet arms doubles as a training room for staff. Dining areas have a combination of booth and traditional seating, including a custom dining table designed for wheelchair height.
Space planning and furniture selection were informed by our extensive experience in the senior living and healthcare realms to create spaces that are safe and functional while retaining a residential feel. The space was designed to improve wayfinding and encourage interaction and community building among residents. Furnishings look and feel residential but are durable and safe for the senior living community. Materials like wood-toned aluminum, vinyl and crypton are easy to clean and inhibit bacterial growth while remaining attractive and comfortable. Casters on the front legs of chairs in the dining and activity halls allow residents to pull them out more easily. These and other design selections maximize safety, utility and comfort for residents.
The resulting community is warm, vibrant and bright, with a variety of flexible spaces to facilitate different types of activities.
