Healthcare Trends At NeoCon

Shared by Kristen Diephuis, NBS Workplace Associate – Healthcare & Education

It’s an exciting time in healthcare design. This year at NeoCon we saw healthcare products trending towards versatile, cleanable, and modern design benefits.

A recent survey found that 63 percent of patients today said the most stressful part of visiting their doctor is waiting to be seen. At NeoCon the Steelcase Embold collection took center-stage in healthcare guest and lounge seating with its inviting design. This versatile collection offers multi-seat units, bariatric sizing, and hip-height options for extended support. With the demand for integrated technology on the rise, Embold has positioned itself as a leader in the market with table options that can integrate power.

Next, Convey was introduced as a free-hanging, modular casework system by Steelcase. Using a rail-attachment system vs. direct-to-wall, Convey can be easily configured for exam rooms, patient rooms, clinician workspace, and café applications. This product also stood out for its durable thermofoil technology, compared to competing products that use less durable, laminate surface options.

I believe this quote sums up where the future of healthcare is going – “Healthcare furniture doesn’t have to feel institutional. It shouldn’t add to the stress people feel during a healthcare experience. It should make you feel good physically and emotionally.” – Ryan Ramos, Steelcase Health design director
