‘Tis the Season of Giving: NBS Rudolph to the Rescue 2023

The holiday season is here, and for many, that means fun traditions, time with family and friends, and giving back in meaningful ways. One of our favorite holiday traditions at NBS is Rudolph to the Rescue, where we provide financial assistance to local families and organizations during the holiday season.

NBS allocates $4,000 to our largest team in Southeast Michigan and $2,000 to each of our branch locations, allowing each team to support the causes they are most passionate about. While NBS gives back throughout the entire year, Rudolph to the Rescue is a special time to get the team’s input on which organizations to support in each of our communities.

Here’s how our teams decided to give back this year…

Southeast Michigan Team

NBS Rudolph to the Rescue 2023

Our Southeast Michigan (SEM) team supported our strategic partner, Contract Source Group, with their Toys for Tots “Stuff-the-Trailer” campaign again this year to brighten the holidays for many children in need. Our team members filled up our donation boxes with toys throughout December, and we also collected two boxes of toys from our generous guests at our last client event of the year.

Our team also purchased and donated puzzles, games and books to fill the rec rooms for residents to enjoy at Mission Point Nursing & Physical Rehabilitation Center of Clinton Township. We then came together to assemble over 250 care packages for their staff and residents, and later, surprised their staff during their holiday party with trays of delicious holiday cookies.

We also donated $500 to New City Kids, an after-school program for children that creates a community of spiritual, leadership, academic and musical development. Lastly, we put our creativity into action as we decorated brown bag lunches for the Kids’ Food Basket Sack Suppers program. And on top of that, we donated an additional $500 to this organization to provide local elementary school students with healthy evening meals.

Our Great Lakes Bay Region (GLBR) team chose to donate all $2,000 of their Rudolph to the Rescue funds to their local Boys & Girls Club. This organization provides a safe space for kids to grow, delivers engaging programs for academics, health and leadership, and offers trained staff to guide and motivate kids to be successful.

After donating toys, games and other items to this organization back in September and seeing how excited the kids were, our team knew they wanted to support the Boys & Girls Club in more ways than one this year.

Lansing Team

As a result of the Lansing team’s passion for the VFW National Home and their mission, they dedicated all $2,000 of their funds to this special organization. The VFW National Home supports military, veterans and their families with children, by creating a foundation of services and resources necessary to move forward in a positive, safe and healthy environment.

Many of our team members have close relationships with active or retired military, so they were excited to support the VFW National Home in their mission of helping military and veterans achieve both their personal and family goals.

Toledo Team

Our Toledo team chose to support three organizations this year, and had a blast in the process! The team went on a shopping spree, spending almost $970 on items for Ronald McDonald House Charities of NW Ohio, an organization that allows parents to stay near their hospitalized children during a medical crisis, while providing the comfort, care and support they need. While out shopping, the team also spent about $615 on items for Mom’s House Toledo, a childcare center available to help low-income, single moms graduate from high school, technical school and college.

The other $250 of the team’s funds were donated to the Toledo Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #40 for their “Shop with a Cop” program, which provides underprivileged children in the Toledo area with gifts and allows them to form a special bond with local law enforcement officers.

“Rudolph to the Rescue has been an NBS tradition for over 20 years,” explained Megan Robinson, NBS Marketing Team Leader. “As a core value, NBS is dedicated to giving back and making a difference in our communities all year long, but with Rudolph to the Rescue, we can make an even greater impact during the holiday season. We love seeing how engaged our team gets and hope it inspires them to give back in more ways.”

Rudolph to the Rescue never fails to get our team in the holiday spirit and remind us of what the season is truly about. On behalf of NBS, we wish you a happy holiday season and hope we’ve inspired you to give back to the places and people that mean the most to you.
