4.0 Volunteer Challenge Update: 723 hours

We did it! We reached our 4.0 Volunteer Challenge company goal of volunteering 700 hours in 2016! September and October were big months for us and many of our team members took part in group organized volunteer activities.

In September, our Audiovisual Solutions team donated their time to the Troy Family Daze community event. Volunteer jobs included security, selling wristbands and event set up. Team members from our Great Lakes Bay Region volunteered with CAN (Child Abuse and Neglect) Council in Bay City. They helped strip wallpaper and patch walls to get the Council’s office ready for new paint. In addition, they cleaned dozens of plastic ducks which are used during CAN’s annual Ducky Derby fund raiser. The event involves the numbered ducks racing down the Saginaw River every August.

This month, more than 40 of our Troy and Construction Solutions team members helped on a Detroit Habitat for Humanity renovation over the course of 6 days. We worked on the home’s finishing touches, including painting walls and trim, landscaping, exterior power washing and drywall repair work. We were fortunate enough to meet the future home owner Kathy and were honored to help complete the home for her.

With the holidays upon us, we know our team will continue to give. We are very proud of our team members for giving time to an array of causes and organizations. As an NBS Core Value, serving and making a difference in our communities is very important to us. The 4.0 Volunteer Challenge has been a rewarding and positive experience bringing team members together for a great cause.
