The Skillman Foundation Featured in Great Lakes Design Magazine

We are excited to share one of our client’s workspaces was recently featured in the December issue of Great Lakes by Design Magazine!  The Skillman Foundation is a non-profit organization focused on improving the lives of children in Detroit. Their work focuses on education, economy and equity for Detroit youth.

The Skillman Foundation choose Detroit based architecture firm duo Hannah – Neumann/Smith to redesign their Detroit based office, highlighting their brand, commitment to the city and collaborative nature through the space. Hannah-Neumann/Smith then partnered with NBS to select key furnishings to compliment the creative and vibrant new space.

Part of the scope of work included replacing private office doors with glass and creating a central hub of Steelcase workstations. The stations pop with color accents of blue and green, while playful rocking buoy seating by Turnstone creates an area for workers to come together when inspiration strikes. The stations provide workers seated privacy while still being open to the rest of the office so as to not lose synergy among team members.

The Skillman Foundation’s new space is now an energetic hub to support their dedicated team as well as welcome and embrace the youth community of Detroit.
